About The One World Center for Autism

Mission & History

The One World Center for Autism began in November 2007 as a coalition of parents, medical providers, educators, therapists, and county residents united by their passion to improve the outcomes of those living with autism in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Meet our Team

Recognizing that autism is a unique, challenging, and poorly understood social and neurobiological disability, we envisioned a comprehensive center that would empower those affected by providing a compassionate environment where providers and parents would partner in care and advocacy.

In December 2007 our committed coalition was awarded a grant from the American Academy of Pediatrics to plan a center of excellence for autism in Prince Georges County.

Our Strategy: Building Comprehensive Autism Services

With more than 1,900 children and adolescents affected by autism in Prince George’s County at the time of our inception, we calculated that a roll out of all necessary service would have required more than $1 million in funding.

We responded to this challenge by implementing our services in phases, through community partnerships, donations, grant solicitations, and committed volunteers.

Since adopting this strategy in 2009, we have successfully established many critical services and have acquired an amazing home of our own through the generosity of the Prince George’s County Public School System.

We are grateful for the support of people like you. Our achievements to date have only been possible through the perseverance of our many committed supporters.

We deeply value your support and participation

Together we can continue to be a source of help and hope for those in our community who are living with autism!
